Gothic 1 Remake Trainers & Teachers
Last updated: 2026-06-24
In Gothic you don't pick a class or open a skill menu — you spend learning points (LP) with trainers scattered across the camps. This page covers who teaches what and how to plan your LP. For the overall progression order, see the best build.
How learning points work
- You earn LP as you level up from experience.
- Trainers convert LP into weapon skill %, attribute points, or spells.
- Many trainers gate teaching behind a minimum attribute or camp membership — join a camp to unlock the good ones.
- Don't hoard LP early; a trained skill is the difference between landing hits and bouncing off enemies.
Who trains what
| Skill | Train at | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| One-handed | Old Camp (Diego & weapon masters) | The most forgiving start — pair with Strength |
| Two-handed | Old Camp | Bigger hits, needs high Strength |
| Bow | New Camp | Scales with Dexterity; great for kiting |
| Crossbow | New Camp | Slower, hits hard, strong from stealth |
| Acrobatics / sneak / lockpicking | Various camp thieves | Quality-of-life and utility skills |
| Rune magic (Fire) | Old Camp Fire Mages | Needs Mana and standing |
| Rune magic (Water) | New Camp Water Mages | Ice/utility focus |
| Early rune access | Swamp Camp (Sect) | Smoothest start for a mage/battlemage |
Spending LP efficiently
- Train your primary weapon skill first so hits connect.
- Raise the matching attribute — Strength (melee) or Dexterity (bow).
- Add utility (lockpick, sneak) only once your combat is reliable.
- Branch into magic later if going battlemage — the Swamp Camp makes it smoothest.

FAQ
- How do you learn skills in Gothic 1 Remake?
- You spend learning points (LP) with NPC trainers, not in a menu. Each trainer teaches specific skills, and many require a minimum attribute or camp membership before they'll teach you.
- Where do I learn one-handed weapons?
- Melee training is centred on the Old Camp — Diego and the camp's weapon masters teach one-handed and two-handed skill. Raise Strength alongside the skill so your hits land.
- Who teaches magic?
- Rune magic is taught by the Fire Mages (Old Camp) and Water Mages (New Camp), while the Sect in the Swamp Camp grants early rune access. You need Mana and camp standing to progress.
